Privacy Policy

Effective August 24, 2026

ploro (“ploro,” “we,” “us”) is a sports-fan app that rewards you for showing up — checking in at stadiums and partner locations, earning badges and Rank Points, and sharing game-day moments with friends. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the ploro mobile app and ploro.app.

Information we collect

  • Account details — email address, name, username, date of birth, and an optional profile photo.
  • Home ZIP code — you provide it during signup; we derive your home city, state, metro area, and approximate coordinates from it (used for features like travel badges and aggregate fan maps).
  • Favorite teams — the teams you pick, which power check-in rewards, trivia, and leaderboards.
  • Precise location — when you use check-in features, we use your device location to verify you are at a stadium or partner location. If you check in at a venue, we continue collecting location while you are at that venue to power in-stadium features and venue analytics. This background collection is confined to the venue’s boundary and stops automatically when you leave or end your visit.
  • Contacts (optional) — if you grant contacts access, we use it to find friends who are already on ploro and help you invite others. You can use ploro without granting this.
  • Photos and camera (optional) — photos and videos you take or upload for your profile, quests, and feed posts.
  • Finding past games in your photo library (optional) — if you use the photo scan, ploro reads the date and location saved with photos already on your phone to work out which games you attended. This matching happens entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded, and the only thing sent to us is the short list of stadium-and-date pairs that already look like games — nothing about photos that did not match. You can use ploro without granting this.
  • Content you create — posts, captions, comments, and messages in your crews.
  • Activity — check-ins, quests, badges, Rank Points, trivia answers, and interactions with sponsored questions and mini-games.
  • Device information — push notification tokens and basic device data needed to run the app.

How we use information

  • Operate the app: verify attendance, award badges and Rank Points, run leaderboards, trivia, and quests.
  • Social features: friend connections, feeds, crews, and profiles.
  • Venue and sponsor analytics: measure engagement with sponsored content (which is how ploro is funded) and produce venue insights.
  • Safety and moderation: reviewing reported content and enforcing our Terms.
  • Support and service communications, plus push notifications you can turn off anytime.

Location, in plain terms

Location is core to ploro — it is how we prove you were really at the game. We use it in the foreground to find nearby venues and check you in. Background location runs only during an active check-in at a venue, is limited to that venue’s geofence, and shuts off when you leave. We do not track your location as you go about your day.

What we share

  • Teams, venues, sponsors, and merchants receive aggregated or de-identified insights (for example, attendance counts, fan-split percentages, or anonymized movement heatmaps) — never your name or contact details.
  • Other fans see what you choose to share: your profile, posts, badges, and stats (some details are visible only to accepted friends).
  • Service providers that host our infrastructure (database, authentication, push notifications, app updates) process data on our behalf.
  • Sports data providers (league schedule and score APIs) receive no personal data from us.
  • Legal — if required by law, or to protect users and the service. If ploro is ever part of a merger or acquisition, data may transfer with it.

We do not sell your personal information, and the app contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. Sponsored content in ploro is served by us, not by ad networks.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account anytime in the app (Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account) — this removes your profile, check-ins, badges, points, posts, photos, videos, and messages. Aggregated, de-identified analytics and records we must keep for legal or billing reasons may be retained.

Your choices

  • Location, contacts, photos, and notification permissions can be changed anytime in your device settings; notification preferences are also in the app.
  • You can report content or accounts, and block users so their content no longer appears for you.
  • You can delete your account in-app, or email us and we’ll do it for you.
  • Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information — email us to exercise them.

Children

ploro is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, stored with access controls, and sensitive operations (like verifying trivia answers or deleting an account) happen server-side. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for least access.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app.
